Enzo Adventures

Sometimes I wish I was a kid again. I think about all the fun Enzo gets to have & how he really has no stresses or worries in life. What would that be like to have again? Enzo is such a fun boy who has lots of energy and is always on the go. He loves water & being outside, as well as playing with other kids, helping (or what he thinks is helping) & coloring. I have learned that in order to keep him happy we must have a least one outdoor activity a day were he can run, jump and play in the fresh air and warm sun. Here is Enzo enjoying life.

First time on the lake this year & loving it. He tried to jump in about 3 times.
I think he is a fish.

Learning how to color. I guess I need to be more specific about how the paper is what we color on, not our face.

Enzo is already putting the moves on the girls.
 Such a little Gentleman.

To bad the wind storm last week blew it away.

Climbing on the table in the playroom with his car.
(more to come on the playroom, it's almost done)

Making funny faces at Mom aka run from the camera time.

Hammering his way through Home Depot

Eating a homemade chocolate banana creamy

 Playing in the pantry

Loving his doggie (dream lite) from Grandma Great.

Thunderstorms & Raindrops

Enzo goes with me almost every day to exercise. He normally plays in a pack & play with lots of toys or sits in his stroller and enjoys his breakfast.I am impressed with how well he does majority of the time. A few weeks ago we were at Noel's (friend/personal trainer) completing our Friday morning interval training (which is a very intense class) when a crazy Utah thunderstorm moved in. Class was coming to an end and of course it started pouring rain. I just live a few house away from Noel, up a slight incline, so I decided to load Enzo up in the stroller and we would just run home in the rain. Who knew how long the storm was going to last and Enzo needed a diaper change fast. So up the hill we ran in the wind, rain and storm (mind you I was completely exhausted from the 45 minutes of interval training I had just completed) By the time Enzo and I got to our garage and opened it we were both soaked and so was the stroller (which was a blessing, it needed a good rinse and it got one) We came inside and both started laughing. Enzo went to the front door and tried to open it as in he wanted to go back out  and play. Crazy kid that loves water. Instead he settled for just being able to watch it from the window. I took this picture right after we came in, I couldn't believe that Enzo was so happy after being pelleted in the face by the rain. He is such an easy going little guy (must get that from his Dada). Oh & no I don't dress Enzo & I in the same colors on purpose. He was still in his PJ's which are bright green and that was my only clean workout top.

I Work Out

Back in January, Matt & I made a little wager as to who could be in the best shape by the time we went on our April vacation to Cabo San Lucas. We decided that whoever, gained for Matt or lost for me, the most weight by the beginning of April, would get a nice amount of cash to spend on themselves before and during the cruise. At first I was a bit uneasy by this wager as I had been struggling with losing the weight I had gained from being pregnant with Enzo. For some very odd reason I was under the impression that I would be able to lose the 59 + lbs I had gained while pregnant with Enzo, very quickly and with little work on my end. I thought that as long as I breastfeed the extra weight would just melt off. Well that was not the case for me. It seemed like my body just wanted to hold on to it. I have never really had an issue with losing weight previously, most of the time if I noticed my clothes were fitting a little tighter I would just change my eating habits and would notice a change fairly quickly. Anyways, I was up for the challenge and it may have just been the motivation that I needed.  I was starting to really struggle with the fact that Enzo would be turning a year soon and that I was still holding on to an extra 30 lbs.  I was not happy at all and was super upset that I had no clothes to wear on this upcoming cruise as I refused to buy clothes, since I really liked my pre-pregnancy clothes and had hopes and dreams of fitting into them by that year mark. I started working out in the early morning hours and lost about 7 lbs in 2 months. I was super excited and highly motivated to continue, but the early morning workouts were extremely hard on me as Enzo suddenly decided that he didn't need to sleep through the night. I soon realized that I would not be able to workout in the mornings and I would have to find a new exercise program. Right about this time my neighbor announced that she would start teaching fitness classes 6 days a week. I was so excited to attend all of her wonderful classes & hoped that these classes would help me continue to lose the extra weight that I had. I soon asked if she would be willing to do some personal training with me, which she was happy to take on. By the time the April vacation rolled around I had lost 13 lbs and has won the cash prize. Matt insisted that I won by default as he got the flu a few days before our last weigh in and lost a lot of the weight he had gained. I on the other hand knew that I won because I worked my butt off every day and went the entire month of March without any unnatural sugars.  I have continued to lose weight and inches and was so excited that I was finally able to fit back into a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans with no muffin top in May. As of today I have lost 15 lbs since January. I am probably in the best shape of my life & I enjoy working out. I am super motivated to continue and enjoy the new lifestyle that I have been creating for myself over the past several months. I am so grateful for a wonderful friend/personal trainer that continues to encourage & push me to my limit each week. I hope to start running a few times a week over this next month to mix up my workouts a little & see if I can start enjoying a nice run, which I never thought I would even be thinking about running as an enjoyable activity.
So the picture on the left is one that I really wanted nobody to ever see, but that is what  I looked like the end of December 2011. The picture on the right is from May 2012, the day I could get my pre-pregnancy jeans on and not have a muffin top.

Eat little to none unnatural sugar
Workout at least 5-6 hours a week

The Sleeping Ways of Enzo

Recently, Enzo has decided that he only needs to take one nap during the day. This nap last anywhere from 2-3 hours so I can't complain, but about every 3 or 4 days he ends up falling asleep in the evening while eating dinner. He takes a short 15-20 minute cat nap and this is back to eating his dinner. Such a funny kid.

Enzo has never been a child to sleep with blankets or stuffed animals. He has always wanted his hammer, ball or block in order to fall asleep. A few weeks ago he decided that he needed to sleep with his hammer. I snuck in and took a picture, such a funny little guy. I don't think I have ever met a kid that would rather fall asleep with a hard, cold hammer than a soft, warm blanket or stuffed bear.

I love that Enzo is such a loving little boy. He loves to snuggle up with Matt & I late at night and right before nap time. I cherish this snuggle time as I know it won't last forever even though I wish it would. The last week of May, Enzo came down with a horrible double ear infection that hit hard and fast. You could tell he was not feeling well as all he wanted was for me to hold and snuggle him all day. Although the circumstances for him were no fun (it's always so sad when little ones are sick), I loved the fact that all he wanted to do was snuggle and sleep all day. The next day after the medicine had started working,  he was back to his normal high energy, happy self.

Enzo loves his Dada so much. He falls asleep in his lap at least once a week, normally Sunday night when we settle down to watch a movie together as a family. I just love these two so much. Matt is such a great Dada to Enzo & Enzo just loves Matt. The minute Matt walks in the door from work, meetings or anything else Enzo is glued to his side. It's so cute to see them laugh and play together after a long day of work and life.

Enzo's 12 Month Stats

Enzo had his 12 month check up this week. He is a healthy active little man who can now basically eat anything and everything since he is 12 months old.

12 Month Stats:

Height: 31.25 Inches (90%)
Weight: 21 lbs 4 oz (25 %)
Head Circumference: 46.6 cm (50%)

Enzo is now walking, talking(dada, mama, Uh-oh & gibberish), exploring & being a typical boy. He loves to read & look at books, watch little Einstein's, play with his toys & use Dad & Mom as a jungle gym. He loves his Daddy & is glued to him the minute he walks through the door from work.  He is a sweet little boy who loves to give hugs & kisses. He loves playing with other kids. He has recently become a super great sleeper. He loves baths & his fireman rubber ducky.  He does not like having his teeth brushed or getting put in his carseat on most days.

A Cruising We Shall Go...

Matt & I were able to enjoy a week cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with our friends, The Lewis'. It was a fun & much needed getaway.  Cabo is such a neat place to visit; its so warm, lively & the beaches are so calm & beautiful. We had a great time walking the streets & visiting all the shops. Matt of course loved bartering with the locals. The boys enjoyed a morning of scuba diving were they got to see a shark, lots of fish and marine life, while us girls enjoyed the fish & marine life by snorkeling. Cruising was a great adventure as well with constant entertainment and food. We enjoyed the week away, but both were super excited to see our little man when we got home. Thanks to our parents and siblings for watching Enzo while we were gone, you could tell he was well cared for & enjoyed every minute of being spoiled by his Aunts, Uncles & Grandparents.

Formal Night (yes someone forgot our formal wear on the mainland)

So we improvised & weren't the most formal, but thats okay!

Happy 1st Birthday

Enzo turned ONE this past Monday. It is crazy how fast that year came and went. We can't believe a year ago we were just welcoming this fun little guy into our lives & so nervous as we had no idea what to expect as new parents.  We have made it through that first year which everyone said was the hardest, but we are starting to believe they lied to us now that Enzo is walking, climbing, biting & fearless. Anyways back to the celebration! We celebrated a week early with both of our families in California. Enzo had a blast spending time & playing with all his Cousins, Aunts, Uncles & Grandparents. We had a birthday bash for him in my parents backyard with lots of yummy food, an easter egg hunt, cake & lots of fun presents for the birthday boy. He loves all of his new toys & I can't wait to dress him in his new clothes.  We were so excited that we were able to celebrate with both of our families & that Enzo was able to see all of his family members that love him so dearly. We are so grateful for the loving and thoughtful families that we have & for the time we were able to spend with them while visiting in California.
