15 Months Old

Enzo turned 15 months old on July 16, 2012. It is crazy how quickly Enzo has grown and changed. Here are some of his stats:

Weight: 22 lbs 13 oz (25%)
Height: 32 inches (75%)
Head Circumfrance: 47.3 cm (50%)

He has added a few words to his vocabulary including : no, oh! no, all done, hi and many more. He understands so much more and gets super excited when we put his shoes on because he knows we are going outside. We can tell him to find things or to go get specific toys and he will come back with them majority of the time. He is walking very well and runs to most places. He still loves his Daddy so much! He has learned how to give better, not so opened mouth kisses and loves to give hugs. He unfortunately has learned how to through really dramatic tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He still has a few bad habits that we are trying to help break him of such as biting, hitting and throwing toys at friends. He loves fruit, especially nectarines and peaches. He also loves playing in water be it splash pads or swimming. He can open and close doors, climb up and down stairs in the matter of seconds, and loves to play hide n seek. He likes to talk on the phone with his Grandma's, Grandpa's, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He loves making new friends, but is starting to get a little scared around some older kids and adults. He enjoys playing outside, collecting rocks and wood chips, digging in the mud and swinging at the park. He had learned how to open the dishwasher door  and loves to take out all the spoons and forks. He loves reading books, watching Mickey mouse clubhouse & wreaking havoc throughout the house each and everyday.  He also enjoys popsicles and ice cream cones.  He still hates getting his teeth brushed, but is getting a bit better.

Toddler 72 hour Kit

After the "Dump Fire" I decided I better get in gear and get our 72 hour kits done. It takes a lot more work than I thought to get everything together for them and to find a bag that it will all fit in for a fast grab and go. I started with Enzo's since I figured Matt and I could manage, but Enzo would not do so well without the necessities.

Here's a list of what I included in case anyone else feels the desire to tackle their little ones 72 hour kit.

Utah Blaze

We have been lucky enough to do lots of fun activities this year with Enzo without having to spend a ton of money, since we purchased a Utah Pass of all Passes that gets you into all sorts of events for free from water parks and theme parks to sporting events. Last weekend we went to a Utah Blaze game at the Energy Solutions Arena with some friends. ITHe Utah Blaze are an indoor arena football team. It was an interesting game to watch, but after 15 minutes Enzo was not interested. We tried to keep his attention with food, but that didn't work this time. So again, Matt and I spent majority of the night switching off between each other taking Enzo for walks around the arena, which of course Enzo loved. We stopped and played on a little play area that they had set up, but sadly there were way to many older kids that had no respect for the little guys, so that didn't last long. I am glad we were able to go and experience what the Utah Blaze are all about even if we did spend most of the evening chasing after our fun little dude.

Baby Oil Incident

Enzo is such a smart little boy who loves to learn and is constantly climbing, playing and getting in to everything. Earlier this month Enzo had just woken up from a nap and was playing in his playroom. I was on a work phone call just outside of the playroom when I noticed it had gotten very quite, quite is never a good sign with Enzo. So I quickly finished the call (mind you the call was only 3 minutes and 58 seconds long) and went looking for Enzo. I could see that my bedroom door was open so I figured he was in there emptying out my sock drawer or something of that nature. Nope not in the bedroom, instead he was in my shower in my bathroom. (side note I had just shut all the doors leading to my shower, bathroom and bedroom right before the phone call & had no idea Enzo could open them) I go in there to find that Enzo has found the baby oil that I use to help keep my skin soft after showering. He was someway able to get the "child proof" lid off and had at least tasted his "drink" that he had found. I am pretty sure that he tasted it and spit it right out since he had baby oil all down his shirt like he has food or water when he spits it out. I picked him up cleaned him up and started reading the back of the baby oil to see what is may say regarding ingestion. It says "avoid ingestion or inhalation which can cause serious injury. Should breathing problems arise, consult doctor immediately." I wasn't to worried as Enzo was breathing just fine. I googled baby drinks baby oil (worst idea every) basically everything that came up said that my little Enzo was going to DIE. I figured what the heck might as well call Poison Control again (yes, again - remember the Trident Gum) I call and the operator informs me that as long as he didn't aspirate any of the oil he should be fine. He would just have diarrhea for a couple to days because the oil would act like a laxative. If he aspirated any of it, it could cause him to have Chemical Pneumonia, which can be very dangerous and could lead to death. As long as he didn't start coughing, wheezing or having a hard time breathing then there was no worry, if any of those symptoms started I was to take him to the Emergency room immediately. Seriously! Luckily for us Enzo was just fine and he never had any cough, wheezing or breathing issues. How scary that would have been. We did learn a lot from this experience though. Rooms we don't want Enzo in have to be LOCKED, "CHILD PROOF CAPS" are not Enzo proof, Poison Controls Number is now added to my phone & accidents can happen in seconds.

The baby oil has found a new home on the top shelf in our shower

Not only do I lock the door to my bedroom, but I now lock the door from my bedroom to my bathroom as well. I don't want Enzo to have get into something that could have had deathly consequences again. I have already moved all my cleaning supplies into a closet that Enzo can not access.

Spiderman & Bee's Baseball

A few weekends ago we went to go see Spiderman with some of our friends, Cory and Jamie. We went to an early evening show so that we could take Enzo with us and he would be awake and happy. He loved the movie and really enjoyed all the snacks and junk he was able to eat while we were there. He was so pooped after the movie though since he had been swimming and playing all afternoon.

The next night we went to our very first Salt Lake City Bee's Baseball game with Cory and Jamie. Enzo enjoyed the foam baseballs they gave out and ended up with a collection of 6 or 7 by the time the game was finally over. We sat in the grass area since we figured there was no way Enzo would sit still for 3 hours or more in a stadium seat. I don't think he even sat still for more than 10 minutes. He was having way to much fun making new friends, playing with the baseballs and eating any and every treat he could get his Daddy to buy for him.  Baseball games or any activity for that fact is so much different with a toddler who is always on the go. I am pretty sure that Enzo and I walked around the Bee's stadium for 3/4 of the game. The Bee's didn't win which as disappointing, but the Fireworks show at the end of the game made up for everything.

Happy Birthday America

I love the 4th of July. It's always a fun filled day with good food, fun & lots of sun. It's definantly different not living close to family and partaking in the normal family traditions with the backyard BBQ, fireworks and family fun, but we are starting to create our own traditions. This year we took decided to head to Seven Peaks and play with Enzo in all the different kiddie water areas. He had a blast and after 3 hours we were all tired and ready for a nap. On our way home we stopped by a Mexican mart and loaded up with all the goodies to make carne  asada tacos. That evening we enjoyed a fun family BBQ with just the three of us. We sat out on the deck that night and watched all the Fireworks go off on our side of the lake, as well as Provo and American Fork. Matt was sad because we didn't buy any fireworks this year since it has been so dry and I prefer my house does not burn down.  We missed bing with our families, but enjoyed the day the best we could.

Slip n Slide & a Rodeo

Friday night we went to our first Rodeo as a family. Enzo loved all the animals, especially the horses. It was a fun evening filled with lots of cowboys and stubborn bulls. Sadly, not one cowboy was able to ride a bull for the 8 seconds needed to advance. Those bulls were mean and had an agenda of their own. There were several that would not exit the arena after they bucked their rider off. Many charged at the clowns, judges and horses in the arena. We were entertained by the livestock with attitudes for majority of the rodeo. It was neat to watch all the different events and to see what a true cowboy is all about.

Saturday was so dang hot. After working in the yard and doing a few other fixes around the house we decided to take Enzo to a splash pad. When we got to the park there was a large slip n slide set up so after Enzo played in the splash pad for a while we went over to check out the slip n slide. It was a scout fundraiser so we bought Enzo a wrist band and sent him down the slide a few times. He loved it.
